What makes Zabeel Investments different from the rest of the diversified companies now operating in the UAE? |
| |
| |
The answer to that question can be found by looking at not only the range but the quality of our portfolio - the investments we have made and the projects we have undertaken really speak for themselves. Also, at Zabeel Investments we firmly believe that our future success is inextricably linked to the progress of our country. For this reason, we have focused heavily on educational initiatives. For instance, we teamed up with Nakheel to launch Bidaya, an education and leadership programme offering financial and developmental support to talented UAE students. |

On what basis do you strategise your investment plan? |
| |
| |
Zabeel’s investments, while diversified, have all been focused and well thought out, and a quick look at our portfolio will demonstrate this fact. To date, all our ventures have been lucrative and successful.
Also, we aim to keep our expanding portfolio in line with the evolution of the UAE and with the vision of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. Zabeel Investments has indeed grown significantly over the past year, and this is only the beginning of our journey. |

How will having a construction company in your portfolio affect your existing relationships with other contractors and construction firms? |
| |
| |
ZSML, which we launched as a joint venture with the Turkish company Sembol Construction, is a new independent company, an entity in its own right. Neither Zabeel Investments nor ZSML will be restricted from working with other contractors or developers, respectively. While part of the Zabeel Investments portfolio, ZSML is a separate company, with its own directives. |

What else do you have coming up? |
| |
| |
As you are aware, in just over a year Zabeel Investments has established itself as one of the most dynamic and diversified companies in the region, and we will continue on this path. We will of course continue to broaden and consolidate our property interests. We will also focus on manufacturing and light industry, along with the hospitality, finance, media and education sectors. We have some exciting projects in the pipeline, which will reaffirm Zabeel’s position as an exclusive, top quality brand. |

Is Zabeel Investment is a strong believer in Emiratisation? |
| |
| |
Absolutely, as a UAE-based company, we feel it is imperative that more Emiratis become involved in developing and working in the UAE’s flourishing private sector, however we want to make sure that the right candidate goes in to the right job, not just employment for employments sake; but rather career building. This will of course benefit the nation, but also the various areas of industry which don’t currently have a strong national representation. Who better to understand the local market, after all, than people who were born and raised here? So, it naturally follows that Zed Communications aims at recruiting young creative nationals. Again, I would stress that we at Zabeel Investments believe that investment in people, particularly our youth, is the greatest contribution we can make to our community, our society and, in the long run, our company. |

Is CSR an important aspect of your business? |
| |
| |
Corporate social responsibility should not be something a company practices from time to time, but a philosophy that underlies everything they do. Our sense of responsibility does not end with such initiatives as Madaares or Bidaya; we are investigating healthcare and environmental issues, and shall continue to act in a responsible and beneficial manner in every sector in which we operate. It is our belief that only through careful consideration and examination of issues, can they truly be addressed, which is why we are taking our time to reflect on those areas that need the most support.
