Arab Media Forum
This event was first hosted in 2001, and has garnered praise for recognizing the significant role journalists play in reporting the news of the region. Zabeel Investments sponsored the 2007 Arab Media Forum, during which HE Mohammed Ali Al Hashimi was called upon to present the Arab Journalism Award for Best Child Journalism (for children under 12 years of age) to May Malhas from Saudi Arabia's Al Jazirah newspaper.
In a region where there are often tight press controls and strict censorship, the journalists awarded are recognised for their groundbreaking articles that rely on fact and the strength of the story, as opposed to the 'manipulation of truth' used to sell copies in other parts of the world.
